BuyGlobal Films offers a warranty for all of its products, allowing you to shop with confidence. However, due to the nature of many of our products, it’s important to carefully read our warranty policy before you purchase your items.
Our entry-level film is the only one that comes with just a 2-year warranty. While this product is affordable, this warranty reflects the fact that it is not intended to last a lifetime. As a result, the warranty becomes void once that 2-year period expires.
Inform your customers of this warranty period if possible. By letting your customers know the limitations of the warranty, you can help them make the best choice for their unique needs. It might be a good idea to offer a wide range of film options to enable your customers to choose long-lasting films if they so desire.
Many of our mid-range films come with a 5-year warranty. This provides your finished products with a considerable lifespan, although these films are still not designed to last a lifetime. These products strike a neat balance between affordability and longevity, and they can prove to be popular for both customers and tinting professionals.
That being said, you should still inform your customers of the limitations of these mid-range films. Let them know that their tinted windows are not guaranteed to last past that five-year period.
If you wish to purchase the most dependable and long-lasting films, choose products that come with lifetime warranties. Buy Global Films is proud to offer lifetime warranties on many of its high-range films. The dependability of these products is reflected in the higher price.
You might consider offering all three options to your customers: an affordable option, a mid-range option, and a high-level option. This gives your customers the freedom to choose a film that best suits their unique needs. If they want a dependable, long-lasting option, they can select the high-range window film that comes with a lifetime warranty.
Selecting the Right Film
In order to make sure your warranty is valid, it’s important to select the right film for the job at hand. If you choose an incorrect film for the job, the warranty may become invalid. Unfortunately, many tinters choose to use improper film for certain projects. A common example is using automotive film on residential or commercial windows, which is counterproductive, ineffective, and in some cases dangerous. If you choose to use automotive film on residential windows, the warranty immediately becomes void.
Seal failure, thermal stress fractures, and other issues can all be caused by improper film selection. This is why the warranty becomes void as soon as you choose the wrong type of film for the job at hand.
Thermal stress fractures and insulated glass unit seal failure can be caused by a range of factors, including:
- Using film on glass with pre-existing flaws or imperfections
- Tightness of fittings and framings
- Rapid temperature changes
- Excessive shading
- Environmental conditions
Thermal expansion is a major issue that can be caused by incorrect film selection. This is when incorrect film choice causes the film to crack or break because of exposure to heat. Some films are designed to expand naturally with the glass, but this expansion can cause stress on glass in certain situations. If the film expands at a faster rate than the glass, damage can occur. This is another reason why improper film choice can lead to a voided warranty. This is a particularly serious issue with single-pane glass.
Even small cracks can cause serious damage to windows. Seal failure and small cracks can cause moisture to permeate the panes, leading to discoloration and a wide range of other issues.
What Does My Warranty Cover for Commercial Applications?
If your window film was professionally installed, it comes with a warranty that covers a range of costs, including:
- Replacement film
- Re-installation costs
- Product defects
- Poor adhesion
- Demetalization
Your warranty does not cover the following issues:
- Thermal shock fractures (TSF)
- Insulated glass unit seal failures (IGU)
- Issues outside of the warranty period
With that being said, you may apply for TSF and IGU coverage in certain situations at no extra charge for certain high-level films. To do this, you must obtain written approval for TSF and IGU coverage, especially for mid-range films.
What Does My Warranty Cover for Automotive Applications?
We are proud to offer a comprehensive warranty for our automotive films, and this warranty provides coverage for a wide range of potential defects, failures, and issues. We stand by our products, giving you confidence when you purchase our films.
While each product may have a slightly different warranty, many of our products are protected against issues such as:
- Adhesion failure
- Peeling
- Bubbling
- Blistering
- Delamination
- Demetalization
In addition, many of our films are guaranteed to “Never Fade to Purple.” These include products like our HP line (high performance), NR Quick Dry Plus, and QDP Ceramic films.
If you experience any of these issues, your defective film will be removed and replaced at no extra cost. This means that the manufacturer will reimburse you for the cost of removing the defective film, and then you will be provided with sufficient replacement film to re-do the job.
That being said, your warranty does not provide coverage if:
- You have installed the film poorly or incorrectly
- You have failed to adhere to IWFA accepted installation standards
- The film was improperly maintained
- You engaged in cleaning abuse
- You broke the glass
- You used the automotive film for non-automotive applications
- You used the film improperly in any way
Violations of Local Regulations and Laws
You should also know that your warranty will become void if you violate any local laws and regulations. Make sure you understand your state, province, or territory’s laws regarding automotive tinting. This includes regulations on how dark windows can be, whether certain windows can be tinted at all, and regulations involving how wide the upper portion of a windshield can be tinted (also known as an “AS-1 line”). As soon as you break any of these regulations or bylaws, your warranty for your automotive film becomes void.
